Wellness Journey Update #1!

Hello everyone! I figured it was time for a quick wellness journey update. Things have been crazy where I live, and all over really, so I was thinking we could use a lighthearted post.

I am almost done with my third time through 21 Day Fix Real Time via Beachbody On Demand and I can feel a difference in my general physical strength. This time through I used 3-pound weights instead of the 2 pounds I used before. I wanted to kick it up a notch and the 3’s are the heaviest I have right now. One pound doesn’t sound like very much, but you can tell the difference when you are working out. I am going to finish up this round of 21 Day Fix Real Time the Sunday after Christmas, and from there I am thinking of starting 21 Day Fix Extreme Real Time or 80 Day Obsession.



As I reflect on the last year, I feel like exercise has been one of the main ways I have held it together emotionally. It helped me work through having over 30 clients walks away from us without looking back, and really appreciate the few that have stood by our side through this disaster. It helped give me enough mental energy to get through the monotony of staying home as much as humanly possible. I am still incredibly grateful for the awesome Shanta for pushing me to get started. Even if I haven’t lost all the weight the benefits to my mental health are fully worth it.

My food journey is still ongoing, but I have done well the last few weeks. I have consistently eaten lunch almost each day of the week and have discovered some new snacks to help me between meals. I am still working on eating before I am over hungry, some days are easier than others. I have discovered a new favorite recipe that I will be sharing with y’all very soon!


I have started doing a few new things to help keep my mood boosted throughout the day or on days that I don’t work out that I thought I would share with you. I have started listening to my “Smile Bitch” playlist during my showers and while I cook. It is a playlist of my favorite positive vibe songs, and it always gets me pumped up. Something I accidentally discovered helps give a mood boost is a 1-minute dance party. No, seriously, it works. Music or no music, shake that booty for a minute or two and it will release some happy chemicals into your brain, or at least it does for me. The last thing I have started doing to help boost my mood is pick an I Am Card each day to help give me an affirmation to contemplate throughout the day. It is interesting to see the ones I immediately think are true versus the ones I must sit with and work on. It doesn’t hurt that they are very aesthetically pleasing on top of being thought provoking.


Everything is still a work in progress, but I feel awesome about the progress I have made this year. I have a lot of goals for 2021, so I decided to start tracking them in my journal. I want to be more accountable to what I do or don’t do to achieve those goals and journaling them makes sense to me. It is also neat to be able to look back and visually see your growth in real time. This past year has been truly nuts, and one of the toughest of my adult life, but I have learned a lot about myself and it gave me some perspective.
